Inappropriate protein intake, self-care behavioral and medication problems were regularly found in chronic end-stage renal disease patients. These may affect self-care problems. This study aimed to determine self-care knowledge and quality of life in chronic end-stage renal disease patients with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and to identify the correlation between self-care knowledge and quality of life. </span></span></p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal; tab-stops: 72.0pt 126.0pt 153.0pt 369.0pt;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">Methods</span></span></strong><strong><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">:</span></strong><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"> A cross-sectional descriptive study was performed in 106 patients who underwent CAPD for at least 1 month at the Renal Unit of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Medical Centerhospital. Self-care knowledge and quality of life were measured by the self-care knowledge questionnaire for CAPD patients and the Thai version of CHOICE Health Experience Questionnaire, respectively. </span></span></p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal; tab-stops: 72.0pt 126.0pt 153.0pt 369.0pt;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">Results</span></span></strong><strong><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">:</span></strong><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"> The overall self-care knowledge was a high level score with the mean score of 88.44 ± 13.19 and the high level of the following domains; step and method of CAPD, medication, nutrition and behavior and abnormal symptoms with the mean of 89.46 ± 12.13, 82.23 ± 12.30, 92.45 ± 5.57 and88.68 ± 22.64, respectively.
