Abstract

Dioscorea collettii Hook.f. is presented as a new record for Thailand, from Doi Chiang Dao in Chiang Mai Province. It is a Sino-Himalayan species, occurring at high altitude in Thailand. A
complete description and illustrations are provided, including the underground parts. Its distinctive morphological characters are discussed. 10 Dioscorea L. species, over 20% of the total in Thailand, occur on Doi Chiang Dao. Its unique contribution to the diversity of the genus is discussed.
