A list of Flowering Plants in the Swamp Area of Peninsular Thailand

Abstract

The study on the vegetation in freshwater swamp, tidal regions along Bang Nara River and its vicinities ot inland leading to To-Daeng peat Swamp-forest ot the Narathiwat province, has been undertaken from 1983 onwards. At present, the amount of 88 families, 297 species of flowering plants are recorded, of which 48 species are regarded as new records for Thailand. The botanical names, local names, and habits of these plants are shown in the tabular lists. 

Buttresses, pneumatophores and stilt-roots of tree species are very characteristic features, these are added in the table.

Plants speciinens collected by the author in cooperation with the staff members of the Forest Herbarium are cited in this paper.
