One of the problems was the use of manual labour in seed shelling because the lack of suitable machinery. To solve this problem we built a prototype of sweet corn seed shelling machine which used a close cylinder of 60 cm long with an axial flow system as cracker. Teeth are of rasp bar type. We then tested run the machine to determine the degree of suitability of the rotation of the cracker and compared the results with those of manual labour. Results showed that the concave clearance setting at 70 mm.
and the speed of rotation of the crackers setting at 6 m / s. the quality of sweet corn kernels was not significantly different from, while cracking speed was about 70 times faster than that of manual labour.
ER -
