Abstract

This article is a part of a series of diversity study on feshwater phytoplankton of Thailand. The study based upon examination of 248 plankton samples collected from various types of water bodies in the central and eastern parts of the country, during 1998 and 2003. A list of one hundred and six species, thiry-three varieties, and two forms of euglenoids is provided. Many of the taxa encountered are well known cosmopolitan forms. A further illustrated and brief taxonomic description of the first record taxa is also given. This includes fifty species, twenty-one varieties, and two forms. This study provides baseline data for fulture diversity and ecological studies of freshwater phytoplankton in Thailand.
