Abstract

Objectives : To investigate food consumption behaviors and to identify factors associated with food consumption behaviors of the cardiac and arterial diseases patients of the Queent Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeastern region, Khon Kaen University

Methods : This study was descriptive research. One hundred cardiac and arterial diseases patient of the out-patient department and 150 patients of the in-patient department diagnosed by physicians were recruited. Data were collected by mean of questionnaire and were analyzed for association.

Results: The cardiac and arterial diseases patients with different personal characteristics had statistically significant differences of perception, attitudes and behaviors of self-care. In addition, the personal characteristics had statistically significant associated with food consumption behaviors of the patients.

Conclusion: The food consumption behaviors of the cardiac and arterial diseases patients had been improved however some still had risk behaviors that could result in treatment risk.
