The Relationships between Knowledge about Overweight During Pregnancy, Perceived Self-Efficacy and Health Behaviors among Pregnant Women with Overweight

Abstract

Background and Objectives: The prevalence of overweight in pregnancy is currently rising. Maternal overweight is associated with increased risk of maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. Prenatal care should focus on healthy behaviors practice for optimal weight gain during pregnancy. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge about overweight during pregnancy,perceived self-efficacy and health behaviors among pregnant women with overweight.


Methods: This was a descriptive study was calculated the sample size by comparing the power analysis of 85 overweight pregnant women (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2) who attended antenatal care clinic at Phrachomklao hospital, Phetchaburi province and Hua-Hin hospital, Prachuapkhirikhan province. Data were collected by using questionnaires including demographic data, knowledge about overweight during pregnancy, perceived self-efficacy, and health behavior practices. The reliability coefficients of the questionnaires was ranged from 0.82-0.86, and were analyzed by using Pearson's Product-Moment Correlational Coefficients statistics.


Results: The samples were 18-42 year olds, who got pregnant 2 times or more. Most of them were housekeeper and completed secondary school or higher education. The average of the income9,000 baht/month, they have not get complications during the pregnancy. The findings indicated that there was a significant positive correlation between “knowledge about overweight during pregnancy”, “perceived self-efficacy” and “overall health behavior: nutritional behaviors and physical activities” among pregnant women with overweight. (p< 0.05 and p< 0.01, respectively).


Conclusion: Knowledge about overweight in pregnancy and perceived self-efficacy are important for health behaviors practice to control weight gain during pregnancy.


ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความรู้เกี่ยวกับภาวะน้ำหนักเกินขณะตั้งครรภ์และการรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตนกับการปฏิบัติพฤติกรรมสุขภาพของหญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่มีภาวะน้ำหนักเกิน

หลักการและวัตถุประสงค์: ความชุกของภาวะน้ำหนักเกินขณะตั้งครรภ์มีการเพิ่มขึ้นในปัจจุบัน ภาวะน้ำหนักเกินขณะตั้งครรภ์สัมพันธ์กับการเพิ่มปัจจัยเสี่ยงให้เกิดการเจ็บป่วยและการเสียชีวิตของมารดาและทารก การดูแลขณะตั้งครรภ์ต้องเน้นการปฏิบัติพฤติกรรมสุขภาพที่เหมาะสมเพื่อการเพิ่มของน้ำหนักที่เหมาะสมในขณะตั้งครรภ์ การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความรู้เกี่ยวกับภาวะน้ำหนักเกินขณะตั้งครรภ์ และการรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตน กับการปฏิบัติพฤติกรรมสุขภาพของหญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่มีภาวะน้ำหนักเกิน


วิธีการศึกษา: เป็นการศึกษาเชิงบรรยาย คำนวณขนาดตัวอย่างด้วยการเปรียบเทียบตารางวิเคราะห์อำนาจการทดสอบในหญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่มีค่าดัชนีมวลกายก่อนตั้งครรภ์ ≥25 กก./ม2 ซึ่งมาฝากครรภ์ที่โรงพยาบาลพระจอมเกล้า จังหวัดเพชรบุรี โรงพยาบาลหัวหิน จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ จำนวน 85 ราย เก็บข้อมูลโดยแบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล ความรู้เกี่ยวกับภาวะน้ำหนักเกินขณะตั้งครรภ์ การรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตนและการปฏิบัติพฤติกรรมสุขภาพที่มีค่าความเที่ยงอยู่ระหว่าง 0.82-0.86 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ของเพียร์สัน


ผลการศึกษา: กลุ่มตัวอย่างอายุ 18-42 ปี เป็นการตั้งครรภ์ 2 ครั้งขึ้นไป อาชีพแม่บ้าน จบการศึกษาระดับมัธยมศึกษาขึ้นไปรายได้ >9,000บาท/เดือน ไม่มีภาวะแทรกซ้อนขณะตั้งครรภ์ การศึกษาพบว่าความรู้เกี่ยวกับภาวะน้ำหนักเกินขณะตั้งครรภ์ และการรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตนมีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกกับการปฏิบัติพฤติกรรมสุขภาพโดยรวม ด้านการบริโภคและด้านกิจกรรมทางกายของหญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่มีภาวะน้ำหนักเกิน อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p < 0.05 และ p< 0.01 ตามลำดับ)


สรุป: ความรู้เกี่ยวกับภาวะน้ำหนักเกินขณะตั้งครรภ์ และการรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตนมีส่วนสำคัญต่อการปฏิบัติพฤติกรรมสุขภาพของหญิงตั้งครรภ์เพื่อการควบคุมน้ำหนักตัวในระยะตั้งครรภ์
