Murder : Postmortem Examination of Murderous cases at Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University

Abstract

Background and objective : Murder is the erime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice afore though. It is the most violent social action that should not occur in any society. The study aims to assess the natural history in these cases in regards to proportion of gender, age, time and murderous methods of the murderers.

Methods : The information was collected from dead certificates and postmortem examination records of Srinagarind Hospital from the years 2003 to 2008.

Result : Results of study revealed that the ratio of male to female was 5.36: 1. Most of them aged between 21-30 years old (22.22%). The murderous events toor place  mostly on Friday (18.23%), during evening time of 18: 00 – 24: 00 (26.50%). The most frequent method was the use of handguns.

Conclusion : Most  of  homicides occured in aldolescent  male  on  Friday.   Murder method is mainly by weapons move than physical attacks.
