Abstract

We have developed our pediatric ventilator system for a prolonged use in respiratory cripple.  The system is simple, low-priced and versatile even in small hospital providing that Bird’s respirator Mark 7/8, compressed air, oxygen, pressure regulators and flowmeter are available.  The coaxial Mapleson F breathing circuit is easily constructed from local materials and demonstrated in this report.  The preliminary clinical study was done in 11 pediatric patients.  The longest use of this system was over 100 days in patient with Guillain Barre’s syndrome.
