Non-rheumatologic uses of NSAIDS

Abstract

NSAIDS have several salient indications outside of their roles in rheumatology.  The established roles encompass treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, thromboembolic disorders, patent ductus arteriosus in prematurity, pain, fever, superficial thrombophlebitis, idiopathic pericarditis, post-cardiac injury syndrome, pleurisy, chronic erythema nodosum, idiopathic urticarial vasculitis, Bartter’s syndrome and some cases in diarrheogenic islet-cell tumor.  Human and animal studies are being done on the sus of NSAIDS in septicemic shock, immunodeficient patient as immunostimulant, acute pain in ureteral and biliary colic, and prophylaxis of intestinal tumor.  Topical use of NSAIDS did not include in this review.
