OPEN PRACTURE AND MOTRORCLE ACCIDENT
Abstract
A review of literatures indicates that persons in the third decade who sustained motorcycle accident are prone to open fracture, This fact prompted us to review our experience at Srinagarind Hospital, A retrospective study was carried out on all cases of open fracture admitted during 1985 – 1988, 192 cases were located, two of these were excluded due to incomplete record, leaving 190 for the study . Of these 147 (77 . 35%) were male and 43 (22.63%) were female with an average age of 27. Seventy one cases (33.37%) were from motorcycle accidents and the rest 119 cases (62.63%) were from other types of injury. Analysis was made to compare motorcycle accidents and other injuries at different age groups ( < = 20, 21 – 30 , 31 – 40, > 40 ) . Our study indeed confirmed statistically that motorcycle accident accident significantly leads other injuries in causing open fracture, especially in third decade age
