Assessement of communication problems in cleft palate

Abstract

There are complicated communication problems in cleft palate.  These problems (hearing loss, delayed speech and language development, articulation defects, voice disorders, etc.) effect to other developments such as psychological, social development, and learning process.  So it is necessary to assess and treat them as soon as possible.  This paper reviewed a lot of assessements are used in cleft palate which each method informs different advantage data.  However, cinevideofluorscopy is the best assessement of velopharyngeal function and listener judgement (subjective judgement) is generally more important than objective judgement is assessement of  communication problems.
