Stress Worry and Effects among Health Personnels during Pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 in Srinagarind Hospital

Abstract

Background and Objective:  Coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19) is a fast spreading novel infectious disease of global pan-dermic status. Its Global illness and death burden has caused unprecedented socio-economic disruption.  This study aimed to examine stress worry and effect among health personnel during pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019

Methods: This research was a cross-sectional descriptive study in Srinagarind hospital. A sample of 293 health personnel was clustered sampling selected. Data were collected from 1 to 30 May, 2020.

Results: 293 health personnel. The majority of health personnel reported stress and worry at a moderate level, 48.8% and 59.4% respectively. Nurses were found to be higher than doctors, significant difference were observed on stress and worry. ( p=0.012, p=0.001, respectively). Females were found to be higher than males, significant difference were observed on stress (p=0.008) but did not differ significantly on worry (p=0.190)Effect of COVID-19 on quality of life, 46.7% felt COVID-19 had effected their quality of life (QOL). The majority (82.3%) of these personnel showed their loyalty to organization, did not consider moving to another job.

Conclusions:  Hospital should strengthen the training of knowledge, skill of treatment and care of COVID-19 patients for these personnel and provide adequate equipment for protecting COVID-19. Special attention should be paid to the mental health of nurses and female health personnel.
