The center also plays a crucial role in the development of the care system, academic advancement, and research. This study aimed to analyze the financial management outcomes of the center.
Methods: This retrospective descriptive study examined the financial management outcomes using 12 sets of annual summary reports from the past four years. Data were collected from annual financial reports comprising three sections: (1) revenue and expenditure of the Tawanchai Center of Excellence and the Research Center, including financial statements, and auditor's reports from the Tawanchai Foundation; (2) financial management practices; and (3) outcomes, including care indicators, research productivity, and the number of assisted patients. Data were collected over a period of three months and analyzed using descriptive statistics.
Results: The Tawanchai Center of Excellence was primarily supported by international funding, averaging 88.70% of its income. On average, 40.49% of the budget was allocated to system development, followed by 24.60% for direct patient care. Among the seven performance indicators, four achieved target values. The Research Center received an average of 55.11% of its funding from Khon Kaen University’s research division, with 75.89% of its budget dedicated to research management. Research outputs included eight publications Quartile 1 and ten in Quartile 2 journals indexed in Scopus or ISI. The Tawanchai Foundation received 91.36% of its income from donations, averaging 247 donors annually. Approximately 78.14% of the foundation’s budget was allocated to patient support, assisting an average of 1,782 patients per year.
Conclusion: Tawanchai Center demonstrates efficient financial management by utilizing resources from diverse funding sources. This enables equitable access to treatment and rehabilitation services, while also fostering high-impact research and academic contributions.
