Correlation between Risk Factors and Blood Sugar Levels of Elderly with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Background and Objective:  Patients with diabetes mellitus is still difficult to cause.That the reason why treatment of blood sugar level tend to normal levels were the most important. Nevertheless the physical of adult and elderly were difference, that the result of blood sugar levels control in elderly was unclearness.

Methods: Studied in subjects were elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus (n=49). All subjects were testing fasting blood sugar levels, clinical characterize such as age, weight, high, blood pressure, waist circumference and physical activities questionnaire.

Results: Blood sugar levels were highly correlated with age, body mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, waist circumference (r=0.78, r=0.91, r=0.70, r=0.81, r=0.80, respectively) but blood sugar  levels were not correlated with physical activities and timing of type 2 diabetes mellitus (r=0.19, r=0.26, respectively)

Conclusion: Blood sugar levels and age, body mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, waist circumference were positive significant correlation in elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
