The Effects of Sex Education Learning Program on Sexual Knowledge and Satisfaction with the Program of High School Students

Abstract

Background and Objectives:Sexual behavior of adolescents is a major problem causing risky sexual behavior, premarital sex, unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Currently, sex education is limited to theoretical teaching, so adolescents lack the skills to protect themselves from risky sexual behavior. This study, therefore, aimed to investigate the effects of sex education learning program on sexual knowledge and satisfaction with the program of high school students.

Methodology:A quasi-experimental study was conducted with high school students. They were provided with sex education learning program which was in accordance with the application of self-efficacy theory. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t-test.

Results: After using the program, the average score of the samples was higher than that of before using the program statistically significant at .01 level. The most satisfactions about the program were the aspect of providing knowledge to foster the awareness of self-protection from having sex and having sex before marriage.

Conclusion:The sex education learning program had effectiveness on sexual knowledge and satisfaction with the program of high school students.   It resulted on having more sexual knowledge leading to greater awareness of the risk of premarital sex.

ผลของโปรแกรมการเรียนรู้เรื่องเพศศึกษาต่อความรู้เรื่องเพศและความพึงพอใจต่อโปรแกรมของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย

หลักการ และวัตถุประสงค์: พฤติกรรมทางเพศของวัยรุ่นเป็นปัญหาสำคัญ ที่ทำให้เกิดพฤติกรรมเสี่ยงทางเพศ  การมีเพศสัมพันธ์ก่อนวัยอันควร การตั้งครรภ์ไม่พร้อมและเกิดโรคติดต่อทางเพศสัมพันธ์ ปัจจุบันการสอนเพศศึกษาจำกัดอยู่กับการสอนทฤษฎีทำให้วัยรุ่นขาดทักษะป้องกันตนเองจากพฤติกรรมเสี่ยงทางเพศ  การศึกษาครั้งนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการเรียนรู้เรื่องเพศศึกษาต่อความรู้เรื่องเพศและความพึงพอใจต่อโปรแกรมของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย

วิธีการศึกษา: ศึกษาแบบกึ่งทดลองในกลุ่มนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย โดยจัดโปรแกรมการเรียนรู้เรื่องเพศศึกษาที่ประยุกต์สอดคล้องตามทฤษฎีการเสริมสร้างสมรรถนะแห่งตน การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน

ผลการศึกษา: ภายหลังการเข้าโปรแกรมกลุ่มตัวอย่างมีค่าเฉลี่ยคะแนนความรู้สูงกว่าก่อนเข้าร่วมโปรแกรม  อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .01  และมีความพึงพอใจต่อโปรแกรมด้านการให้ความรู้ที่ส่งเสริมให้เกิดความตระหนักในการป้องกันตนเองจากการมีเพศสัมพันธ์และยับยั้งชั่งใจในการมีเพศสัมพันธ์ก่อนวัยอันควรมากที่สุด

สรุป: โปรแกรมการเรียนรู้เรื่องเพศศึกษามีประสิทธิผลต่อความรู้เรื่องเพศและความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย ส่งผลให้มีความรู้ในเรื่องเพศมากขึ้นนำไปสู่การตระหนักถึงความเสี่ยงจากการมีเพศสัมพันธ์ก่อนวัยอันควร
