Effects of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant explosion on genetics and health
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.14456/tjg.2011.11Abstract
The explosion of the Fukushima Daiichinuclear power plant in March 2011 has caused thepublic concerns on the effects of ionizing radiationon health and genetic materials. The consequencesof the damage include cancer and disabilities of thenext generations. This review article gatheredresearch involving health issues of those who wereaffected from the Chernobyl plant explosion in 1986and survivors of the atomic bombs in Hiroshima andNagasaki during the World War II. The aim of thisarticle is to demonstrate the effects of ionizingradiation on acute sickness, increased risk of cancer, effects on the cellular and DNA level, as well asconflicting schemes of how to manage health issuesthat might occurs in the future.References
