Development of a Lesson on PID Control Design for SCADA System in a Plant Model Training kit

This research aims to develop a lesson plan for PID criteria design implemented in an SCADA system in a plant model and process control training kit. The lesson is designed as a learning-aid tool for undergraduate students in the Electrical Technology program. The assumption made is that the lesson being developed would achieve an efficiency of over 80/80 judged by E1/E2 measure.

The research population was 29 students enrolled in the Electrical Technology program, at Rajabhat Lampang University.

The topic of PID control system design was chosen for developing the lesson plan. Then the contents are analyzed and separated into smaller units, followed by exercises and tests formulated on the lab instruction sheet. This gave rise to 3 segregated lab sessions which are required for the student to complete the PID control design task. Each session is mainly conducted on ICONICS GENESIS32 software. Finally, the efficiency of the lesson was analyzed from the data collected from the population.

The results have shown that the lesson on PID control design for SCAOA systems used in the plant mode! training kit reached an overall efficiency of 83.33/88.33, which is higher than the assumption.
