Design and Build of Automatic Saliva Suction

This paper describes the design and construction of an automatic saliva suction device to facilitate the process of dental care. It was found that a common problem encountered by dentists was that the suction machine was not fitted with a retracting device for when the suction tube touched the internal organs of the patients. The research thus aimed to build an automatic saliva suction device to help dental patients who have difficulty swallowing and expectorating, The automatic saliva suction device relied on vacuum pressure switches to detect and send signals to control the operation of the suction system according to specified values. The device is designed to be portable. It can also be used with emphysema patients, The device was tested by 21 physicians and patients and the result showed that the device has a satisfaction rate of 82.2 percent.
