Ultrasonic Stencil Plate Cleaning Machine

The aim of the research was to design and construct an ultrasonic cleaner for stencil plates. The overall dimension of the design was 84 x 99 x 34.5 cm with total volume of 203,742 cm3. The wash tank measured 78 x 78 x 13 cm with total volume of 79,092 cm3. The capacity of the wash tank was 79 liters. 16 transducers generating a frequency of 50 KHz were attached to the wash tank. The stencil plates were loaded horizontally into the machine. An exhaust duct was installed to remove smells during the cleaning process. Two sizes of stencil plates, measuring 23 x 23 inch and 29 x 29 inch, were cleaned by the machine. The results showed that the optimal conditions for cleaning were around 3-5 minutes at a temperature of 40-60 C. The machine achieved a cleaning rate of around 98-100%, as scanned by a microscope. As the machine uses water instead of solvents to clean, it is more economical and safer for the environment.
