Abstract

Background and objective: Roi Et province still lacks clear guidelines for cardiac rehabilitation. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the cardiac rehabilitation system phase II in Roi Et province.

Method: Participatory action study with 4 phases: 1) analyze the current situation 2) develop a model and create a cardiac rehabilitation manual 3) trial and improve the cardiac rehabilitation model 4) evaluate service system results and patient outcomes of 124 cases.

Results: Phase 1: Currently, the patients lack continuous rehabilitation. The physical therapists service provider lack guidelines, equipment and locations. Phase 2 determines guidelines and creates a cardiac rehabilitation manual. It passed the validity check with an IOC >0.8 for every item. Phase 3 was implement into practice. Phase 4 created a service system and guidelines for cardiac rehabilitation manuals. There is training for physical therapists. There is a plan to request budget support. Regarding results in 124 post-heart surgery patients, the mean 6 minute walk distance (6MWD) increased by 110.30 meters (p < 0.001). Factors affecting success were male gender (AOR = 6.45), age (less than 41 years, AOR = 23.23 ; 41-50 years, AOR = 18.51; 51-60 years, AOR = 18.51) and education level (primary school, AOR = 20.14) (p < 0.05).

Conclusion: The effectiveness of development creates a clearer system. and proper rehabilitation affecting patients after heart surgery That is an increase in 6MWD.
