Background and Objective: Thailand has not yet studied cancer screening and survival rate. To determine cancer screening and survival rate of colo-rectal cancer patients in Health Region Area 7.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study from Cancer Anywhere project 2017-2022 total 1,024 case. Follow-up continued until 2024. The data were analyzed by Kaplan-Meier, presenting median survival time and 95% confidence interval and Log-rank test used to compare the survival rates between cancer screened and non-screened groups. reported p-value from Log-rank test.
Result: Colo-rectal cancer patients were 1,024 case. Died 613 case representing a mortality rate of 24.2 per 100 case-years. median survival 2.41 years (95%CI: 2.07 to 2.95) when classified by factor, it was found that colo-rectal cancer patients who had been screened had a statistically significantly (p = 0.013). Median survival rates were 4.06 years (95%CI: 2.71 to NA) and 2.29 years (95%CI: 1.94 to 2.66), 1-year survival was 71.2% (95%CI: 63.4 to 77.6) and 65.9% (95%CI: 62.6 to 68.9), 3-year survival was 55.9% (95%CI: 47.6 to 63.3) and 44.8% (95%CI: 41.5 to 48.2) and 5-year survival was 46.6% (95%CI: 37.5 to 55.3) and 34.0% (95%CI: 30.4 to 37.7) respectively.
Conclusion: The screening cancer is significantly to the survival of colo-rectal cancer patients in Health Region Area 7. Future studies should consider other factors related to survival.
