Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice about Cervical Cancer Screening of Khon Kaen University’s Personnels at Gynaecological Outpatient Clinic, Srinagarind Hospital

Background and Objective: Gynaecological outpatient clinic, Srinagarind Hospital supports Khon kaen  University ’s policy about health promotion by cervical cancer screening for personnels have good health  strong and far away from cervical cancer .But there was no study about knowledge, attitude, and practice about cervical cancer screening of Khon Kaen University’s personnel for have data to be  plan and service  as their need.

Methods : This descriptive survey study was done in female Khon Kaen University’s personnel who visited at Gynecological outpatient department from March 1^st–August 31^st, 2010.  Total of 140 participants were asked to complete  written questionnaire including   demographic data, and data about knowledge, attitude, and practice on cervical cancer screening. Quantitative data were shown in  number and percentage.

Results : Most of  personnel 89% (124/140) have had a cervical cancer screening at least once in the last five years. However, there were 15%( 21/140) from screening group and 5 from no screening group have inappropriate knowledge and attitude about cervical cancer screening such as “No symptom, No screening”

Conclusions : Khon Kaen University’s personnel’s practice on cervical cancer screening at Gynaecological outpatient clinic, Srinagarind Hospital is high, but 15% who have inappropriate knowledge/attitude need to be corrected.
