Participatory Learning of parent and Primary School Children for Hook worm problem in Chumni district, Burerum Province

บทคัดย่อ

Design : Quasi-experimental researchstudy

Background : Research of health behavior and treatment of hookworm infection in primary school children grade 1-3 in Burerum province showed that after mass treatment 1 rear, reinfection rate of grade3 and grade 2 children were also higher than grade 1 (grade 3 = 3.73%, grade 2 = 3.25% and grade 1 = 1.5%)

Objective : This study was to assess prevalence rate of hook worm infection in primary school children after treatment with 400 milligrams albendazole and participatory learning of the children and their parent 6 months.

Setting : Primary school in Chumni district, Burerum province.

Subjects : 313 school children from grade 1 to grade 6 of 3 schools in Chumni District.

Intervention : Treatment with 400 milligrams albendazole and participatory learning of primary school children and their parent.

Results : the scores of hook worm infection was higher among the post-training session than the pre-training session (p-value = 0.0000) The prevalence rate of hook worm infection after the experimental group was lower than the control group.

Conclusion : Participatory learning process is a better way for disease control planning and should expend to use in wider scale.
