Abstract

This research was conducted to present an appropriate method of changing work shifts that helps filling tank continually and reduces time of changing work shifts. The research takes place in certain fuel gas stations that provides 24-hour service per day. Firstly, the study presents the method, the cause of delay, and collect data of cars’ tank filling to analyze the opportunity cost that the customers don’t wait during changing work shifts. The new method to reduce time of changing work shifts is presented. The opportunity cost of present method and new method are compared. It is found that the new method can reduce standard time from 15 minutes to 5.36 minutes, or 64.27 percent. It is calculated in the opportunity cost from changing work shifts as 534 baht per shift, or 584,633 baht per year. Payback period analysis for equipment that must be installed in the new method found that the payback period is 12.63 years.
