Journal History

The Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya Research Journal (Print ISSN: 1906-6627) was established in 2009 by Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya. In its initial phase, the journal was published in print format and accepted manuscripts in both Thai and English, with a publication frequency of two issues per year. During this period, the journal primarily functioned as a national platform for academic dissemination.

In 2019, the journal underwent a major transition from print to an online publication format and was assigned an electronic ISSN (Online ISSN: 2673-0197). This development significantly enhanced the accessibility, visibility, and efficiency of research dissemination in line with contemporary digital publishing practices.

As part of its strategic progression toward internationalization, the journal announced a policy change in 2024 to discontinue the acceptance of Thai-language manuscripts and to accept only English-language submissions. This marked a critical step in broadening its international reach and increasing its visibility within the global academic community.

Building upon this transition, the journal achieved full implementation of its language policy in 2026, with all published articles appearing exclusively in English. This milestone reflects the journal’s firm commitment to international standards and global scholarly communication.

In 2025, the journal was officially renamed Recent Science and Technology (Online ISSN: 3057-0786), beginning with Volume 17, Issue 1 (January–April 2025). This rebranding signifies a strategic effort to enhance international recognition, strengthen academic quality, and align with global indexing and publishing standards.

The journal is currently published three times per year. Starting from Volume 18, Issue 1 (2026), the number of articles per issue has been adjusted to approximately 15–20 to ensure effective editorial management and maintain publication quality. In the same year, the journal implemented the assignment of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) through Crossref for all published articles and adopted an Article ID system in place of traditional page numbering, in accordance with modern digital publishing practices.

The journal is indexed in the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) and has been recognized as a Tier 1 academic journal since 2016, reflecting its sustained commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and continuous development.
