Abstract

The objective of this researchwas to study soybeanseed  quality in their different phality in their different physical charcteristics of varieties.  The experimentwas conducted at Chiang Mai Fereld Crops Research Centre during December , 2000 to December,  2003 in dry season.  The first experiment was randomized complete block design and was divided into 5 replications, 4 tretments namely soybean varieties : CM 2 ST 3, CM 9123--4 andCM 9124-1.  The second experiment was split plot design in CRD with 4 replications, main plot was soybean varieties and subplot was storage time at 0, 3, and 6 months.  Seed moisture, percentaqge of germination, vigour and storage capability in normal and condition room had been measured as well as seed physical characteristics : seed dry weight, eccentricity, percentage of seed deterioration of soybean from physical maturity to harvsting maturity was different.  CM 9124-1 was the highest value, CM 2 was the second and ST 3 was the third.  While CM 91274-1 was the lowest value and had the highest of germinationand vigour.  Their characteristics were low seed dry weight, small size, high eccentricity value, high percentage of seed coat and embryonic axis and low seed density.  Besides, CM 2 and CM 9123-4, the fastest deterioration varieties, had the opposite chaacteristics.  However, storage qualities were depended on seed preliminary quality and storage condition.  Some characteristics namly seed dry weight and percentage of  seed coat and embryonic axis and low seed density.  Besides, CM 2 and CM 9123-4, the fastest deterioration varieties, had the opposite characteristics.  However, storage qualities were depended on seed preliminary quality and storage condition.  Some characteristics namly seed dry weight and percentage of embryonic axis, could be sued as a criteria for soybean seed quality.
