Application of NAA on Seed Quality Improvement of chinese Convolvulus
Abstract
A rsearch for the proper level of NAA (1-naphthylacetic acid) to produce Chinese convolvulus seeds with a high yield and good quality to maximize plant yield from the next generation. The experiment was conducted at Phichit Horticultural Research Center from August 1995 to December 1996. By applying NAA at the rate of 5, 10, 15 and 20 ppm compared with a control for Chinese convolvulus var. Phichit 1, planted by internode with 6 nodes frp, tje sjppt to[/ Tje resi;t sjpwed tjat isomg NAA at the rate of 5 ppm and sprayed once over the plants 40 days after planting (at that time the plant exhibit 25% flowering) increased 35.67 percent seed yield over the control. All concentrations of NAA produced larger seeds. Seed germination was high (91.0 to 96.5 percent) but was not statistically significant at 95 percent by DMRT. Applying NAA increased income when seed from plants treated with NAA 5 ppm was planted for the next harvest. The result showed that the second generation yield increased 1.85 kilogram per 1 kilogram of seed from NAA 5 ppm treated plants compared with the control.
