Abstract

Investigation of VA-mycorrhizal fungi was conducted for their distribution and abundanc ein Upland Rice in the area of Pathum thani rice Research Centre.
In wet season, 1990. Upland Rice Cultivation in the area of Pathum thani rice Research Centre was found in 6 (Kanchanaburi, Charchoengsao, Suphan Brui, Trad, Ratchburi and Phetchaburi ) out of 22 provinces. The total area of cultivation was more than 20,000 rai. Kanchanabrui had the biggest area of cultivation; around 15,000 Rai.
Spores in soils and colonization by VA-mycorrhizal fungi in Upland rice roots were examined at tillering and ripening stages of plant growth. Glomus spp., Acaulospora spp., Gigaspora or Scutellospora spp. and fine endophytes were found eventough they varied quantitatively.
