Varietal Reaction of Coffea arabica Catimor to Hemileia uastatrix

Abstract

A study of the reaction of seedlings of two lines of Coffea arabica var. Catimor to inoculation by Hemileia vastatris was carried out under laboratory conditions between September 1984 and Fberuary 1985. A total of 891 seedlings of the two lines were inoculated by uredospores of the fungus at 21 - 24 C and 91-92% R.H. Seedlings of T. 980 and Mae-Lord were used as susceptible checks. Seedlings of the two lines of the variety Catimor remained free of the disease while the susceptible checks showed 100% infection.
