Biotechnology in Plant Breeding

Abstract

Applications of biotechnology in plant breeding were discussed. the techniques provide means of selection for environmental stresses. Particular technique, e.g. protoplast fusion must be developed in order to regenerate the fused cell to be whole plants. Genetic variation in many useful characters could be created and would be of value to plant breeders.
