Abstract

Weter storage, water use and water use and water-use-effeciency under several fertilizer treatments were studied for corn (Zea mays L.) when grown under conventional tillage and no-tillage (weed control through the use of the herbicides paraquat and atrazine) seedbed systems in Pak Chong province in Northeast Thailand in 1984. A lack of response in terms of growth and yield to the fertilizer and tillage treatments was attributed to relatively uniform distribution of rainfall throughout the growing season and the relatively inherent fertility of the soil. However, signifino-tillage seedbed system. The use of nitrogen fertilizer also improved the water-use-efficiency under both conventional and no-tillage seedbed systems.
