Species of Poisonous Mushrooms in Thailand

Abstract

The comsumption of poisonous mushrooms is an often reported cause of death and sickness in Thailand. The study aimed at identifying and describing species of poisonous mushrooms occurring in Thailand. Species identified as being capable of causing death were Amanita verna (Fr.) Quel. and A. pantherina (Fr.) Secr. The species Psilocybe cubensis (Earle) Sing. was identifiedas an hallucinogenic mushroom; species capable of causing symptoms of hood poisoning are Chlorophyllum molybdites Mass; A. Pantherina and P. cubensis.
