Abstract

Cropping system is widely put in pracetices to make best use of the land and water resources and control weeds. Weeds generally grow in a certain habitat such as Sphenoclea zeylanica Gaertn. and Echinochoa colona Link are common found in paddy field; Ageratum conyzoides Linn. and Dactyloctenium aegyptium (L.) P Beaur, in cotton; and euphorbia geniculata Orteg., digitaria adcendes. (HBK) Henr; and Portulaca oleracea L. in maize and souybean. To know weed species is an advantage for itsl control in cropping system which and be done by many means: cropping pattern such as rice-mize-mungbean, crop varieties with good plant type to compete effectively with weeds, land preparation with a series of plowing, harrowings, and hand and mechanical weeding. Proper rate and water management are also other measures to reduce weed problems as well as chemical mean through use of herbicides.
An effective chemical weed control depends on kind and formulation of herbicide, time of usage, rate of application, spraying technique, and precautions of chemical usage. Weed-problems in cropping system will be greatly imnimized through use of the above weed management techniques at proper time
