Effect of Juvenile Hormone on Cocoon Production of Silkworm
Abstract
Four successive silk worm rearing experiments were conducted in January, Auguse, and October, 1980 to determine the benificial effect of Juvenile hormone on cocoon production. The 5th stage silkworm larvae were sprayed at 4 different times after molting with 0.20% Juvenile hormone concentration in distilled water at rate of 150 ml. per 200 larvae. Data indicated that the spraying at 48 and 72 ht. after molting increased the cocoon weight and weight per cocoon 5 - 10 and 9 - 13%, respectively, as compared to untreated lot.
