Abstract

Using yellow pan traps in three coffee plantation areas in Northern Thailand (Pakia, Changkian and Nonghoy) species and number of aphids were monitored continuously from October 1984 to March 1985. The total numbers of aphids at Pakia, Changkian and Nonghoy were 228, 137 and 67 respectively.rnThe specimens from Pakia were collected and precisely identified. The results showed that not less not less 9 species of aphids were trapped during October 1984 to March 1985. All species are listed, together with their monthly and total number of specimens, and relative frequencies : Brachycaudus helichrysi 58.7%, Pemphigidae 25.88%, Myzus persicae 3.95%, Aphis citricola 3.07%, Aphis gossypii 3.07%, Sitobion spp. 2.19%, Toxoptera aurantii 1.32%, Greenideasp 0.88%, and Macrosiphini 0.88%. Toxoptera aurantii was only the coffee pest and possibly able to transmit plant viruses.
