Abstract

Study of planting dates in 3 varieties of vegetable soybean viz. VB_LB1, Chiang Mai 1, and AGS292 were conducted in dry and rainy seasons during 2013 at Lop Buri Agricultural Research and Development Center, Mueang, Lop Buri, Thailand. Yield and quality of the soybeans were determined. In dry season (planted during middle of December 2012 to middle of February 2013) showed that the varieties of VB_LB1 and Chiang Mai 1 were produced the highest fresh pod with stem yield when planted between the middle of December and early January, whilst AGS292 variety was produced the highest fresh pod with stem yield when planted in the middle of December only. Regarding to fresh pod yield, all varieties planted in the middle of December produced the highest production, while planting in the middle of February resulted to the lowest production. In rainy season (planted during middle of June to middle of August 2013), the varieties of VB_LB1 planted in early July to early August, AGS292 planted in early August, and Chiang Mai 1 planted in the middle of July gave the highest pod with fresh stem yield. The highest fresh pod yields of all varieties were observed in crops planted in early July to early August. The early flowering day and harvesting time were found in all varieties planted in August. Results indicate that planting the soybeans at Lop Buri Province and nearby areas during December to January (dry season) and July to early August (rainy season) increases the yield of fresh pod and fresh pod with stem, and improve the quality of yield output.
