Three molecular markers namely Satt472, Satt288 and Satt012 were found to be associated with soybean rust resistance. In the study, examination was made for the efficiency of these markers in soybean varieties, derived from Chiang Mai 5. The result showed that a soybean line MJ 9518-2 selected from a cross made between KUSL 20004 and Chiang Mai 5 had the same pattern of DNA bands as Chiang Mai 5’s, suggesting the rust resistance in MJ 9518-2. This result was consistent with the Reddish brown type symptom of lesion on soybean leaves of MJ 9518-2 after natural infections under favourable conditions. Besides, in the testing of Satt288 and Satt012 with F1 of a cross between Chiang Mai 60 and Chiang Mai 5 showed the pattern of DNA bands that descended from the parents’ bands. Then the result should be recorded that the three molecular markers had been capable of marker-assisted selection to select varieties/lines derived from Chiang Mai 5 with having soybean rust resistance
