Ten promising lines of mosaic disease resistant chilli were compared with Kee-nu-suan and Huai-se-thon 1 as checks. The experimental design was RCB with 3 replications and 12 treatments. Two crops of chillis were cultivated during dry (2007) and rainy season (2008) at Phichit. Si Sa Ket and Chiang Mai provinces. The results showed that most of the tested lines provided higher yields and lower natural disease incidences than check varieties in comparison. For Prik-yai (big fruit) type, A 9-72-306 and A 16-318-300
were arong the best lines on yield and disease severity standpoints. Fresh yields of them were in the range of 113.65-987,43 and 85.39-1.530.49 kg/rai, while natural disease severities were at 9:00-59 82 and 22.32-75.30%. On the other hand, the A 8-27-91 and A 21-446-276 were considered as the most interesting among the Prik-kee-nu (small fruit) type because of high yieid at 264.42-500.92 and 57 24-220.86 kg fresh weight/rai. In addition. low natural disease severities at 16.80-29.76 and 15.11-44.64% were observed
for those two lines. However, when overall desired qualities were taken into the consideration. the A 16-318-300 and A 8-27-91 were the only two lines suited to the ideal need for marketing. Accordingly, submitting as the recommended varieties will be proceeded soon.
