Abstract

An immature female specimen of Eumeces tamdaoensis, a scincid
lizard hitherto known only from northern Vietnam, was collected from Sai
Kung Peninsula, the New Territories, Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region. Analysis of morphological variation using the present specimen and
17 Vietnamese specimens including two syntypes revealed that E. tamdaoen-
sis has a distinct sexual dimorphism in the number of paravertebrals, as well
as in relative sizes of head and body.
