Abstract

Lepisanthes rubiginosa were commonly used in Thai traditional medicine. This study aimed to investigate antioxidant activities, phenolic and flavonoid contents of root, stem and leaves by three solvents extract (hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol) . The antioxidant activities were performed with DPPH and FRAP methods. Phenolic and flavonoid contents were performed with Folin-Ciocaltue method and aluminum chloride colorimetric method, respectively. The result showed that methanolic extract of L. rubiginosa’s stem showed the highest antioxidant activities in DPPH assay (EC50=35.02±0.53 μg/ml) . Stem of methanol extract showed the highest FRAP value (2.31 ±0.02 mg AEAC/mg extract) and stem extract showed the highest phenolic contents (567.18 ± 6.24mg GAE/g Extract). However, the highest flavonoids content was found in ethyl acetate extract of L. rubiginosa’s leaves (175.14±8.37 mg QE/g extract). The results indicated that L. rubiginosa’s extracts were interested in phytochemical composition analysis and further bioactivities study.
