บทคัดย่อ

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความต้องการจำเป็นของครูไทยที่สอนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์หากสอนเป็นภาษาอังกฤษในโรงเรียนสาธิตมหาวิทยาลัยพะเยาทั้งระดับชั้นประถมศึกษา และมัธยมศึกษาซึ่งตัวอย่างในการวิจัยประกอบด้วยครูไทยที่สอนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ จำนวน 10 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บข้อมูล คือ แบบสัมภาษณ์และความต้องการจำเป็นของครูไทยที่สอนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์หากสอนเป็นภาษาอังกฤษในโรงเรียนสาธิตมหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา ซึ่งประกอบด้วยข้อคำถามที่แบ่งเป็น 2 ส่วน ดังนี้ ส่วนที่ 1 ความเป็นไปได้ในการเกิดปัญหาในการสอนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์เป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ส่วนที่ 2 ความต้องการจำเป็นที่จะช่วยให้การจัดการเรียนการสอนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์เป็นภาษาอังกฤษนั้นง่ายขึ้น ผลการวิจัยพบว่า  ส่วนที่ 1 ผลสำรวจความเป็นไปได้ในการเกิดปัญหาหากสอนคณิตศาสตร์เป็นภาษาอังกฤษของครูในโรงเรียนสาธิตมหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา นั้นพบว่า ความเข้าใจในการสื่อสารของครูกับนักเรียน ครูไม่สามารถใช้ภาษาอังกฤษอธิบายในเนื้อหาของคณิตศาสตร์ได้ดีพอพบมากที่สุด ในขณะที่ปัญหาในเรื่องของครูไม่สามารถใช้ภาษาอังกฤษอธิบายในเนื้อหาของคำศัพท์เฉพาะของวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ได้ มาเป็นลำดับสอง และนักเรียนเรียนไม่เข้าใจเนื้อหาและมีผลสัมฤทธิ์ในวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ต่ำลง เป็นลำดับสาม ส่วนนักเรียนอาจมีเจตคติที่ไม่ดีต่อวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ เป็นปัญหาลำดับสุดท้ายจากการสำรวจในครั้งนี้ ส่วนที่ 2 ผลการสำรวจความต้องการจำเป็นหากสอนคณิตศาสตร์เป็นภาษาอังกฤษของครูในโรงเรียนสาธิตมหาวิทยาลัยพะเยาพบว่า ความต้องการคู่มือประกอบการสอน หลักสูตร สื่อการสอน เอกสารการสอนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์เป็นภาษาอังกฤษที่ได้มาตรฐานนั้นพบมากที่สุด ในขณะที่ความต้องการรูปแบบการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในการสื่อสารสำเร็จรูปมาเป็นลำดับสอง และความต้องการผู้ร่วมสอนที่มีความสามารถทางภาษาอังกฤษมาช่วยอธิบายเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ มาเป็นลำดับที่สาม ส่วนความต้องการโครงการพัฒนาทักษะทางภาษาอังกฤษของครูคณิตศาสตร์ด้านการสื่อสารนั้นพบน้อยที่สุดจากการสำรวจครั้งนี้

Abstract

This research aims to study the needs of Thai teachers who teach mathematics in English in the Demonstration School University of Phayao for both elementary and secondary education. The sample group of this research was consisted of 10 Thai teachers who teach mathematics. Tools used for collecting data were interview forms and the needs on components of Thai teachers who teach mathematics in English in the Demonstration School University of Phayao divided into 2 parts: Part 1 – the possibility of problems in the teaching of mathematics in English; and Part 2 – the needs on components to make teaching and learning mathematics in English easier.

The findings of Part 1, The results of the possibility of problems in the teaching of mathematics in English in the Demonstration School, University of Phayao. It was found that understanding the interactions between teachers and students, the teachers cannot speak English well enough to explain mathematics content, was the most common problem. While the problems of teachers who cannot use language to describe the contents of the terminology of mathematics, was the second problem and students who did not understand the content and had lower mathematics achievement, was the third problem. The students may have negative attitudes toward mathematics was the last problem from this survey. The findings of part 2 revealed that the results of the survey of the needs for math teachers to teach mathematics in English in the Demonstration School, University of Phayao found that the mathematics teachers need teaching manuals, courses, and teaching materials written in English, was the most common needs. While the demand for the forms of English use in instant communication that comes second and the need for English-speaking co-teachers to help explain in English come in third. Finally, the need for communication skills development program for math teachers in English was found the least from this survey.
