Improvement of Pleurotus sp. mushroom (Bhutan strain) was done by Di-mon mating technique using dikaryotic mycelium from strain No. 3 (P3) and monokaryotic mycelium from 8 isolates (A15 - A22) Eighteen hybrid strains were obtained. After cultivating in 800 g of sawdust plastic bags at mushroom house (Bangkok) during November 2014 - February 2015, all hybrids produced the fruiting bodies. Whereas,
cultivation between March and June 2015, 8 hybrid strains formed the fruiting bodies and only 15 hybrid strains produced the fruiting bodies when cultivated during July – October 2015. Three hybrids, P3xSE5, P3xSA6 and P3xSB24 gave higher yield than others and were selected for further studies. The mentioned three hybrids were cultivated in the 3 areas of Royal Project. Yield of those hybrids were compared to yield of P3 strain. Results revealed that P3xSB24 was suitable for cultivation in the Royal-initiated Phu Sing Agricultural Development Centre, Srisaket Province, with yield 216.82 g/bag. The 3 hybrids strains were suitable for cultivation in Pluak Daeng, Rayong Province Development Service Center Under His Majesty’s Initiatives. Yields of the 3 hybrid strains were significantly higher than P3 in two cultivation periods. Cultivation in Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center, Chanthaburi Province, P3xSE5 produced the highest yield during December 2015 – March 2016, which was 171.43 g/bag.
