Factors affecting integrated rice pest management of rice growers in Prasat district, Surin province

Abstract

Background and Objective(s): The situation of rice pest outbreaks results in lower rice production. The use of chemicals to prevent rice pests has increased. It directly affects the health of farmers and consumers. The purpose of this research is to study basic personal conditions and some economic, Using integrated pest management information media, Integrated pest management for farmers and Factors affecting farmers' integrated rice pest management. To reduce the problem of using chemicals as well as reduce costs in rice production.


Methodology: Data were collected using an interview form. From a sample of 124 people, statistics used for analysis include frequency, mean, percentage, standard deviation, ranking, and multiple regression analysis using the Enter Method.


Main Results: Most of the farmers were male, with an average age of 58.54 years, graduated from primary school. The average experience in growing rice was 16.76 years. There was an average rice cultivation area of 11.52 rai. The average income from rice cultivation was 12,322.58 baht, an average rice production cost of 2,083.47 baht per rai. There was a moderate level of Using integrated pest management information media (average 3.02). Moderate integrated rice pest management practices (average 12.85).


Conclusions: Factors affecting integrated rice pest management in practice include age, agricultural income. and Using integrated pest management information media. Therefore, the government sector should adjust the knowledge transfer model to suit farmers. The farmers are getting older. More agricultural income and use more using integrated pest management information media.. This results in more integrated rice pest management at the statistical significance level of 0.05
