Publication Ethics
Journal of Mahanakorn Veterinary Medicine (JMVM) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. All parties involved in the publishing process must strictly adhere to the following ethical principles and standards.
Roles and Responsibilities of Authors
Originality and Submission: The work submitted must be original, has not been previously published or disseminated elsewhere, and is not currently under consideration for publication by any other journal. Authors are required to confirm this in the cover letter.
Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism: Authors must not engage in plagiarism or self-plagiarism. All sources and materials used in the manuscript must be properly cited and credited. Authors are required to confirm this in the cover letter.
Ethics for Animal Use and Human Researches: If the academic work involves animals, human participants, or volunteers, authors must ensure the study was conducted according to ethical standards and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Informed consent must be obtained prior to data collection. Authors must explicitly state in the "Materials and Methods" section.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose all sources of funding and confirm that there are no conflicts of interest that could bias the work, ensuring full academic transparency. Authors may state this at the end of the acknowledgments.
Authorship Credit: All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the research and the preparation of the manuscript. Authors are required to confirm this in the cover letter.
Misconduct Sanctions: In cases of ethical misconduct, the author(s) will be disqualified from publishing in the journal for a minimum of two years. A formal notification will be sent to the author and their affiliated institution as appropriate.
Legal Responsibility: Should any part of the published article violate relevant laws, the author(s) shall bear sole responsibility, independent of the journal or the editorial board.
Final Decision: The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests solely with the Editor.
Roles and Responsibilities of Editors
Manuscript Review: Editors are responsible for evaluating every submitted manuscript to ensure it aligns with the journal's goals and scope. They must oversee the quality of the peer-review process and the final manuscript before publication.
Plagiarism Screening: Editors must utilize plagiarism detection software to check for overlap or copied content. If plagiarism is detected, the Editor must halt the review process and contact the corresponding author immediately for clarification before deciding to accept or reject the submission.
Objectivity and Fairness: Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on their academic merit without bias regarding the authors' race, gender, religion, culture, political views, or institutional affiliation.
Conflict of Interest: Editors must have no conflicts of interest with the authors or reviewers and must not use submitted manuscripts or the journal for commercial gain or personal academic benefit.
Substantive Intellectual Contributions: Editors must not alter the content of the manuscript or the reviewers' evaluations, nor should they interfere with or obstruct the exchange of information between reviewers and authors.
Procedural Compliance: Editors must strictly follow the journal’s established processes and procedures in a timely manner.
Journal Standards: Editors are responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality, standards, and relevance of the journal.
Roles and Responsibilities of Reviewers
Academic Integrity: Reviewers must prioritize the quality of the manuscript, providing evaluations based on academic reasoning and objective evidence, free from personal bias or conflicts of interest with the authors.
Confidentiality: Reviewers must refrain from the unauthorized or personal utilization of assigned manuscripts.
Expertise: Reviewers should only accept manuscripts for which they have genuine expertise and understanding.
Reporting Misconduct: If a reviewer identifies potential plagiarism or ethical breaches in a manuscript, they must notify the Editor immediately.
Timeliness and Confidentiality: Reviewers must complete their evaluations within the specified timeframe and must not disclose any information regarding the manuscript to unauthorized parties.
Research Ethics
Ethics of Animal Use in Research
For research involving laboratory animals or clinical cases with animal volunteers, authors must explicitly state in the "Materials and Methods" section that the study has been approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) in accordance with the Animals for Scientific Purposes Act, B.E. 2558 (2015).
