บทคัดย่อ
สุนัขพันธุ์ฟิล่า บราซิเลียโร เพศผู้ อายุ 3 เดือน ตรวจพบต่อมน้ำเหลืองบริเวณขาพับหลังซ้าย (left popliteal lymph node) ขยายขนาดเป็นระยะเวลาประมาณ 1 สัปดาห์ การตรวจร่างกายเบื้องต้นไม่พบความผิดปกติอื่น นอกจากพบการขยายขนาดของต่อมน้ำเหลืองใต้ขากรรไกรล่าง (submandibular lymph node) ต่อมน้ำเหลืองหน้ากระดูกสะบัก (prescapular lymph node) และต่อมน้ำเหลืองบริเวณขาหนีบ (inguinal lymph node) ทำการเก็บตัวอย่างชิ้นเนื้อจากต่อมน้ำเหลืองบริเวณ left popliteal lymph node เพื่อส่งตรวจทางจุลพยาธิวิทยา (histopathology) ผลทางจุลพยาธิวิทยาวินิจฉัยได้ว่าเป็นมะเร็งต่อมน้ำเหลือง (lymphoma) การถ่ายภาพรังสีช่องอก (thoracic radiography) ตรวจไม่พบวิการการแพร่กระจายเซลล์มะเร็ง ผลตรวจคลื่นเสียงความถี่สูงของอวัยวะช่องท้อง (abdominal ultrasonography) พบต่อมน้ำเหลืองหลายตำแหน่งมีขนาดใหญ่ (hepatic lymph node, splenic lymph node, jejunum lymph node และ medial iliac lymph node) และม้ามโต (splenomegaly) ร่วมกับพบจุดสีดำ (hypoechoic foci) กระจายทั่วม้าม จากผลของการตรวจสรุปการวินิจฉัยว่าเป็น มะเร็งต่อมน้ำเหลืองชนิดที่พบในต่อมน้ำเหลืองทั่วร่างกาย (multicentric lymphoma) สุนัขได้รับการรักษาโดยการให้เคมีบำบัด (CHOP protocol) อันประกอบด้วยการใช้ยา 4 ตัวร่วมกัน (โซโคฟอสฟาไมด์ ดอกโซรูบิซิน วินคริสทิน และเพรดนิโซโลน) เป็นระยะเวลานาน 25 สัปดาห์ ผลของการรักษาพบว่าต่อมน้ำเหลืองบริเวณต่างๆ ตามร่างกายมีขนาดเล็กลง ผลตรวจคลื่นเสียงความถี่สูงของอวัยวะช่องท้องหลังทำการรักษาพบวิการความผิดปกติของม้ามลดลง เมื่อเทียบกับก่อนทำเคมีบำบัด และเมื่อส่งตรวจทางเซลล์วิทยาโดยการเจาะดูดเซลล์ด้วยเข็มขนาดเล็กจากต่อมน้ำเหลืองบริเวณขาพับหลังซ้าย ผลตรวจไม่พบเซลล์ของมะเร็งต่อมน้ำเหลือง
