Abstract

This research was to design and develop furniture products made from oil palm trunk using the quality function deployment (QFD) technique, which the design and development were derived from voice of the customers (VOC) and the survey of customer satisfaction towards furniture products made from oil palm wood. The customer requirements were analyzed in the matrix of product plan converting the customer requirements to the technical solutions and the matrix of product planning or House of Quality (HOQ) converting the technical solutions to the product features. The analyzed issues of customer requirements consisted of shape, material, convenience, quality and other aspects. Three pieces of furniture made of oil palm trunk were designed, and let the customers rate their satisfaction towards the products. It was found that the average customer average satisfaction towards the products was at 4.76 Also, it appeared that the customer satisfaction survey on products’ shape, material, convenience, quality and others was at a high level.
