Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the effects of individual characteristics, motivation and organizational support on the quality of physician’s medical records in community hospitals at the 11th public health region. The 216 physicians were selected by stratified random sampling with proportional to size method. The content validity of the questionnaire was certified by three experts with IOC between 0.94 – 1.00, and the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for reliability was 0.727. Data collection was carried out from 1 November to 30 November 2022. The statistical analyzes were descriptive statistic, point biserial correlation, Pearson’s correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. The results were as follows:

The majority of participants were female, aged between 21 and 30 years, possessed a bachelor’s degree, and worked at the operational level. Overall, the motivation was at a moderate level (x̅ = 3.45), the organizational support was at a moderate level (x̅ = 2.98) and the quality of physician’s medical records was at a high level (x̅ = 3.57). The factors that predicted the quality of medical records of physicians were the motivation factors of success in work and responsibility aspect, and hygiene factors of relationships with colleagues (R2 = 0.292).

Therefore, personal and work environment factors affect the quality of physician’s medical records in community hospital at the 11th public health region. It can be used as a guideline for improving the quality of the hospital in order to keep the quality of medical records continuously and in line with the standards in the healthcare network.
