Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to understand adaptive behavior of students from bachelor of nursing science program in a multicultural society in southern border by using the critical incident analysis technique. Thirty first-year nursing students served as key informants for thirty critical incidents. Data collection was conducted by in-depth interview were considered the coverage, and suitability by three experts. Answers were grouped and classified in data analysis.

Adaptive behaviors of students from bachelor of nursing science program were identified into three categories, respectively as follows: 1) adaptive behavior in the context of language use for communication; 2) adaptive behavior in the context of society and environment; and 3) adaptive behavior in the context of multicultural aspects.

The study's findings assist the institution to manage and update its procedures for enrolling students for the following academic year.
