การวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาเชิงพรรณนา แบบภาคตัดขวาง มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเปรียบเทียบบทบาทของพยาบาลและผลลัพธ์งานอนามัยแม่และเด็กในหน่วยบริการปฐมภูมิ เขตสุขภาพที่ 11 ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของงานวิจัยสภาการพยาบาลเรื่อง บทบาทความรับผิดชอบของพยาบาลในการขับเคลื่อนระบบบริการสุขภาพระดับปฐมภูมิ โดยเลือกแบบเจาะจงพยาบาลที่ปฏิบัติงานงานอนามัยแม่และเด็กในหน่วยบริการปฐมภูมิ 40 คน เครื่องมือวิจัยประกอบด้วยแบบสอบถามบทบาทพยาบาลแบบสัมภาษณ์ปัญหาอุปสรรค และแบบสอบถามผลลัพธ์ตามตัวชี้วัด (ค่า CVI = 0.96, 0.97, และ 1.00; ค่า Cronbach alpha coefficients = 0.95 และ 0.90) ข้อมูลวิเคราะห์โดยใช้สถิติพรรณนา Mann-Whitney U test และวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา
ผลการวิจัยพบว่าพยาบาลทำงานเฉลี่ย 21 ปี (SD = 8.9) ในหน่วยบริการสุขภาพปฐมภูมิเฉลี่ย 9.1 ปี (SD = 7.7) พยาบาลได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นพยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติ (NP) ร้อยละ 87.5 และผ่านการอบรมงานอนามัยแม่และเด็กเพียงร้อยละ 15 บทบาทของพยาบาลงานอนามัยแม่และเด็กใน รพ.สต.และคลินิกหมอครอบครัวในภาพรวมมีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p <.05) โดยเฉพาะการดูแลหลังคลอด การดูแลเด็กวัยเรียนและวัยรุ่น ผลลัพธ์การดำเนินผ่านเกณฑ์ตามตัวชี้วัด ยกเว้นภาวะโภชนาการของเด็กวัยเรียนปัญหาการดำเนินงานแม่และเด็ก คือ การที่พยาบาลมีภาระงานมาก อุปกรณ์ไม่เพียงพอ และพยาบาลขาดการพัฒนาความรู้และทักษะบริการเฉพาะด้าน ส่งผลให้พยาบาลไม่สามารถปฏิบัติงานได้อย่างมีคุณภาพและครอบคลุม
